As we commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I find myself deeply reflecting on Dr. King's profound wisdom, particularly his timeless words: "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." In today's America, where division and hateful rhetoric is more prevalent than ever, these words resonate with a sense of urgency and action.
Dr. King’s dream was not just for an end to racial injustice, but for the creation of a society where every person, regardless of race, creed, or background, could live together in harmony. Yet today, we couldn’t be more divided, despite there being more that unites us than divides us.
As I run for Congress in Oklahoma's 5th District, I am motivated by the same principles that guided Dr. King. The divisive rhetoric that has poisoned our political landscape does not reflect the moral fabric of America – a fabric woven with threads of compassion, community, and resilience. It's time for us to reignite the light of understanding and empathy in our daily interactions and political discourse.
Our campaign is more than a political journey; it is a commitment to reviving the spirit of unity and mutual respect that Dr. King championed. It's about creating policies and environments that drive out hate with love, darkness with light.
As we honor Dr. King today, let us each pledge to be a beacon of that light and love in our communities while renewing hope in the American Dream.
In solidarity and hope,
Madison Horn
