Colorado’s Supreme Court recently ruled that Donald Trump's involvement in the January 6th insurrection makes him ineligible to be on the ballot. The Court cited the 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution, which was implemented after the Civil War to prevent ex-Confederates and insurrectionists from becoming public officials.
This ruling is solid, based on precedent and the law. The next step for this case will be a hearing before the U.S. Supreme Court, where it risks being overturned by a conservative majority bench stacked with Donald Trump’s handpicked Justices: like Clarence Thomas.

By now, it’s clear Justice Clarence Thomas has no business hearing this case and he must recuse himself. His corrupt dealings, acceptance of shady gifts, and the fact that his wife Ginni was actively involved in the effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election show that he can’t be trusted to make this vital decision.
In courts at all levels, it’s a requirement that judges recuse themselves from cases where their impartiality could be questioned. Given the monumentally important nature of this case and Clarence Thomas and Ginni Thomas' overt conflicts of interest, it’s clear that Thomas isn’t fit to make an unbiased decision in this case.
