John,
Today, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and recommit to fighting injustice and discrimination. Meanwhile, the extremists who run our state continue their flagrant disregard of Dr. King's legacy, tightening their grip on power and preserving the status quo of oppression and inequality.
Right now, public universities statewide are shuttering their diversity, equity, and inclusion offices and initiatives to comply with SB 17 — reopening a dark chapter in Texas' discriminatory history by stripping the programs that help students of all racial and economic backgrounds thrive.
As our leaders continue to willfully ignore Dr. King's words by working against the people they're supposed to represent, it's more apparent than ever that it's up to us, everyday Texans, to drive the change for the future we all deserve. John, will you join us this year?
