John – like so many others – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is a hero of mine.
In the face of racism and segregation, he stood up for the America that he knew we deserved to live in – one that prioritizes equity and justice for all. Dr. King's tirelessness was a driving force that helped end the Jim Crow era in our country and inspired the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a changemaker, and it's our responsibility to continue his legacy through public service.
So today, I have two short asks of you: First, volunteer your time at a food drive, public park cleanup, voter registration session, or an organization of your choice. Your community will thank you.
Second, I'm reminded of a quote of Dr. King's that has been a true north of mine: "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that." So, I'm asking you to lead with light for history tells us it's the only way positive change to come about.
Wishing you a day full of service to your neighbors,
- Michael B. Moore
