Dear John,
Today, I hope you will join me in reflecting on the life and legacy of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Dr. King devoted his life to the fight for a more equitable country – a country where everyone, regardless of race, religion, or background, could prosper and live free from discrimination. He accomplished so much in the pursuit of justice, equity, and opportunity—his legacy inspires the work we do every day to build a community more just for all of us.
It is up to us to continue Dr. King’s fight for racial justice, economic advancement, voting rights, and equal opportunity for all, and I am honored to be in this fight with you, John.
It is not lost on me that I stand on the shoulders of leaders like Dr. King, and I am proud to have taken the fight for justice and equality to the halls of Congress. As the first Black person ever elected to represent Ohio’s 13th Congressional District, I carry the names and legacies of those who came before me, and I work to open doors for those who will come after me.
Today, I hope you will join me in reaffirming our commitment to leading with love, serving our communities, fighting for justice, and creating a better nation for generations to come.
Yours In Service,
Emilia
