Today, we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Though we’ve made progress, marginalized communities continue to face deep-rooted inequities in our society. This day reminds us that we can do more to build a more just and equitable society.
Today, a day before the anniversary of my swearing-in, I recommit to do all I can to deliver for all Marylanders in the Comptroller’s office and ensure everyone in our state has a path to reaching their full potential.
One of my favorite quotes from Dr. King is when he reminds us that:
"In a real sense all life is inter-related. All men are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be, and you can never be what you ought to be until I am what I ought to be…"
I hope you can take some time today to reflect on Dr. King’s work and legacy. I look forward to continuing to work together with you to build a better Maryland.
My best,
(She, Her, Hers)
