New Year. Same Mission.
Simply put, 2023 was a great year for Democrats in Morris County.
We saw Democrats:
- take a 4-1 majority in Chatham Township
- elect Carolyn Dempsey as the first Democratic female Mayor in the history of Chatham Borough
- re-elect Morris County Democratic Committee Chair Amalia Duarte to a third term in Mendham Township
- elect Judy Hernandez to Parsippany's Town Council
- maintain complete Democratic control in Dover, Madison, Morris Township, and Victory Gardens
Oh, and during the reorganization meetings that took place, we saw the Mendham Township Committee appoint the FIRST-EVER Democratic Deputy Mayor in township history, Lauren Spirig, in a unanimous vote.
This was all thanks to a continued increase in the youth vote, and we're ready to keep the momentum going.
We'd like to especially congratulate the following Young Democrats who were sworn in over the last two weeks, or continue to serve:
- Jake Hettrich (Boonton Town)
- Katherine Hay (Chatham Borough)
- Geovani Estacio-Carrillo (Dover)
- Sergio Rodriguez (Dover)
- Sandra Wittner (Dover)
- Mark Gyorfy (Morris Township)
The Executive Board will be meeting this month to set our 2024 meeting schedule. We will be continuing to meet quarterly, so stay tuned to our social media and email for updates very soon.
