It's been a really, really hard week, John.
I went to bed on Saturday with my heart breaking for El Paso, bracing myself for the news and images the next day that always make me relive the nightmare of my beautiful butterfly Dylan's murder. Not long after, my phone started buzzing with alerts of yet another mass shooting in Dayton.
By the weekend, these horrible tragedies may start to fade from the news, as other recent mass shootings in Gilroy, Chicago, Philadelphia and Brooklyn already have. But I can tell you the pain of losing a child or loved one to gun violence never goes away.
Dylan was murdered over six years ago, and I still struggle to get through every day. I often find tears falling without realizing I've started to cry. But this mission comes before me – I can't let myself take a break or slow down.
If I do, if we don't accelerate our work to prevent tragedies like these from happening, even more children like my baby boy – more people like the 31 precious lives lost in El Paso and Dayton – will be put at risk. I will never accept that.
That's why I've been working around the clock this week to ramp up our efforts and make sure Congress finally takes action. But right now, we're still $41,363 short and only have seven hours to raise what we need to expand our critical work. So I have to ask you, from the bottom of my heart: Can I count on you to donate right now to prevent future tragedies?
Please, John, click here to rush $10, or as much as you possibly can, to Sandy Hook Promise before midnight to help us do everything we can to finally push Congress to act and prevent gun violence.

My beautiful butterfly Dylan was the light of my life. I try to honor him every day by working to create a world without tragedies like those in El Paso, Dayton or Newtown. I know putting this work above myself isn't healthy, but it's the legacy he deserves. It's what the 31 precious people murdered in El Paso and Dayton deserve, too.
Thank you, so much, for your support right now and always.
With love,
Nicole Hockley (Dylan's mom)
