 Friend – I’m proud to wear many hats: Mom, wife, State Representative, small business owner, and more. But today, I wanted to reach out about one of my favorite “hats” that I wear, an incredibly important piece of my identity: My membership in the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. sisterhood.  Being a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is important to me because throughout my life, I have relentlessly pursued academic excellence and offered unselfish service to others. My work pays tribute to the hours of uncompensated and under-compensated labor Black women have endured in our pursuit to both survive and uplift our race. I am a proud member of AKA because I want to take his voyage through life with like-minded women who are driven to lead.  Alpha Kappa Alpha women serve unselfishly and uphold the highest standards of culture and merit. My goal is to leave a lasting legacy for my daughters and young women everywhere, and I want my service to be a reminder that we are capable and worthy of nothing but the best!
