The beacon of hope he lit burns brightly in Texas.

Senator Ted Cruz
@SenTedCruz

Today we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
He challenged Americans to judge people by the content of their character and not the color of their skin.
We will always remember the sacrifices he made to secure liberty for EVERY American. #MLKDay

Like clockwork.

Every year in January, we honor Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. And on that same day, Republican politicians boldly profess how much they admire the late activist and all he stood for, like standing up to injustice and fighting for the rights of all.

And after a day of displaying hypocrisy, the chuckleheads of the GOP go back to what they do best: promoting their agenda to gut voting rights. What a way to honor Dr. King, right?

This year, we’re not having it. In two clicks, email your members of Congress and tell them to honor the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with action by supporting the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (VRAA).

Dr. King spent his life fighting for racial justice, economic justice, and our freedom to vote. He was instrumental in the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The last time Congress had a chance to pass an updated version of this historic law, every single Republican member of the House and the Senate, except one, voted against it.

But by all means, tell us how much you admire the life, vision, and legacy of Dr. King.

Even though we saw a number of states step up to advance voting rights for their residents last year, Congress made no progress on restoring one of the crowning achievements of the Civil Rights Movement. We can’t let them off the hook.

Celebration without legislation dishonors King’s legacy. Let your member of Congress know you care: take a few seconds to send an email to them today, and demand they support and do everything in their power to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (VRAA).
