Andrew Stands With Local Officials In The Wake of Storm Damage

In light of the devastating impact recent storms have had on Long Island beaches, the Town of Babylon held a press conference on Friday at Overlook Beach to emphasize the gravity of this situation and to urge the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to include the beach in its upcoming beach erosion control dredging project. Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer was joined by Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino and other local officials whose communities have been impacted by storm-related erosion. Although Andrew was in DC for votes, a representative from his office attended to highlight his support. Andrew is currently working to ensure that his proposal to combat coastal erosion on Long Island is included in upcoming legislation.

Long Island Street Renamed In Honor Of 9/11 Hero

Law enforcement, officials, and members of the community recently came together in honor of fallen Port Authority Police Officer Steven Tursellino who succumbed to 9/11-related illness in 2013. A portion of New York State Route 111 was officially renamed the Port Authority Police Officer Steven J. Tursellino Memorial Highway. Andrew provided a Congressional Certificate and a Capitol-flown flag to the Tursellino family in recognition of his service. It's for people like Officer Tursellino and their families that Andrew is leading the fight to preserve the World Trade Center Health Program so that our 9/11 heroes and survivors always have access to the health care they need.

CASEWORK HIGHLIGHT: Putting A Hero To Rest

An elderly veteran contacted Andrew's office for help acquiring a copy of his service records. Unfortunately, just a few days later, the veteran passed away. Andrew's casework team worked with his family to secure the appropriate paperwork and eligibility confirmation to ensure he could receive a full military burial, as was befitting his service to this nation.

Andrew knows how frustrating dealing with bureaucracy can be. That is why he has an entire team dedicated to helping constituents get what they need from the federal government. If you need help dealing with a federal agency, contact our office and our team will get to work on your case.
