Coronavirus took the world by storm. Our leadership is failing in real time. [t]rump has misled millions of people, and claimed COVID19 would miraculously disappear on its own. These dangerous lies put American lives at risk. 

Perhaps even worse, our healthcare system desperately needs a massive upgrade. We pay more than any other country in the world for our healthcare, yet, our hospitals are scrambling to keep up with demand. Supplies, safety masks and respirators are in short supply, and our hospital bed capacity is 4 times less than the rest of the world. Other nations with a single-payer, Medicare for All style system are doing better than we are. 

The inherent flaw in our healthcare system is now revealed: hardworking American taxpayers like you and I chipped in to create hospitals, yet our investments were drained from the system - they go right into the pockets of shareholders. $100 billion last year alone.

A global threat like Coronavirus makes it clear: we need Medicare for All now.

Here's a preview of my new Pandemic Response Policy:

·      A federal career guarantee so that everyone laid off can find a job for a living wage, and paid training, immediately, to do good work in our communities; 

·      An immediate call for the Army Corps of Engineers to build hospitals and testing centers to provide high quality health services;

·      Training medical response teams for jobs of the future;

·      A “Social Distance” Pay to supplement family income during pandemics, so when school/workplaces close to stop the spread, families will have something to rely on -- at least $1,000 per month per adult and $500 per child; 

·      Guaranteed paid sick leave for all –  permanently. I was surprised to find out that America is the only advanced economy that does not guarantee paid time off, and 25% of Americans have zero paid sick leave -- they are forced to work while sick. This, in turn, makes pandemics worse. 

In my first 100 days I'll propose legislation that addresses these issues . Together we can defend America, and ensure it's prepared for the next crisis. But it starts with electing a Progressive Congress.  And I need your help to get there!
