For as long as the United States of America has even been an idea, let alone a reality, there has also been the idea that private citizens and states should be allowed to protect themselves from a federal or national government.
Without that protection, we wouldn’t have the Bill of Rights and individual freedoms, you know, the very fabric that our nation was built on.
However, over the last few decades, the Second Amendment, which allows private citizens to “keep and bear arms,” has come under attack. Most are simply worried about the increase in gun violence and deaths we’ve seen of late. So, they propose doing away with or reforming our gun rights.
But that hasn’t always gone as planned.
We’d like to know your opinion on the matter. Would banning private ownership of guns in America make our communities safer? Or would it only make us more vulnerable, both to the government and criminals?
