The House Ways and Means Committee passed H.R. 6918, the Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act. I introduced this legislation to block a proposed Biden administration rule that would prohibit states from giving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) funds to pregnancy centers that support the lives of both the mother and unborn child. This cruel and vindictive rule would deny mothers everything from diapers to the prenatal care needed for a safe and healthy pregnancy—a sick attempt to steer women toward abortions. It is also a clear violation of the rules set forth by TANF.
As a mother, grandmother, and conservative pro-life champion, I will continue to defend the unborn and their families from political decisions that would deny them basic support and prenatal care. As such, I look forward to H.R. 6918’s swift passage in the House.
Tuesday was Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, and I’d like to again give a special thanks to all those in our community who wear the badge, patrol our streets, and keep us safe. But we must do more than give thanks—we must show officers across our country that they are valued and we have their backs. That’s why I introduced the Law Enforcement Education Grant Program Act, which would provide student loan relief to young men and women who are considering a career in law enforcement. This aims to help departments recruit new officers and avoid dangerous staffing shortages that threaten the safety of our communities. I am honored to stand with our brave police officers and work to keep our communities safe.
We have had a mild winter thus far, but Mother Nature is making up this weekend for everything we’ve missed! Here is a handy reminder about cold weather safety from the National Weather Service. And please check on elderly or infirm neighbors and family to make sure they are staying warm.
As always, please contact my office if there is anything we can help with. Thank you for your continued support!
With gratitude,
