Friends,

Securing resources to drive economic development across Central and Southern Illinois has been one of my top priorities since being sworn into office a year ago.

That’s why I’m excited to share that out of 600 applicants, Decatur was selected as one of 22 finalists to receive funding from the Distressed Area Recompete Pilot Program from the US Department of Commerce and Economic Development Administration.

This funding, which is targeted in areas where employment is significantly lower than the national average, will be a major step toward economic development in Decatur, which has been underrepresented and underserved for many years.

But I know that there is more to be done. I will continue fighting in Congress to bring funding back to Central and Southern Illinois, so we can invest in our communities and build a brighter future for all.
