We had an insurrectionist in our government right here in Maryland, friend.

Carlos Ayala, a (now former) Maryland Elections Board member, attempted to breach the Capitol building on January 6th, 2021 – threatening the lives of my colleagues, myself, and every other government employee and official in the building. Last year, Maryland Republicans nominated him to the state’s top election.

Thankfully, yesterday, Carlos resigned from his post on the Maryland Elections Board after being arrested and charged for his alleged role in the insurrection.

Here’s why I’m emailing you: Democracy is not self-sustaining and we must protect it on all fronts. I pledge to uphold our values and work tirelessly to ensure that our electoral systems remain free, fair, and secure. Will you stand with me?

PLEDGE TO PROTECT OUR DEMOCRACY >>

It’s our collective responsibility to protect and preserve the sanctity of our elections for current and future generations. I hope you’ll take the pledge with me.

Sincerely,

David Trone
Candidate for U.S. Senate
