John,
Monday, January 15th, is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. In addition to being a day that we celebrate the legacy of a great American leader, it is also a day of service.
The power of Dr. King's legacy is not just a reminder of what he stood for but a reflection of what we can do to carry that vision forward.
At this moment, celebrating the human decency at the core of Dr. King's message is more important than ever. Dignity, service, and treating people the way you want to be treated are central to Dr. King’s message, and I try to live my life by these values every single day.
While we have a long way to go, his dream of a world where people are judged based on character, not race or background, is something that we all must work towards.
Dr. King's vision was rooted in humility and service — reminding us that words alone are not nearly enough. Real hope and change are rooted in action and giving back to improve our communities.
That's why I encourage everyone in our district to click here and sign up to volunteer on Monday and serve our community to honor the legacy of Dr. King! There are many opportunities to choose from.
Have a great day,
Jamie
