Have you heard the incredible news about our efforts to qualify for the ballot in Florida, John? WE DID IT!
Last Friday, we announced that the Florida Division of Elections has verified more than the necessary number of petitions to get abortion rights on the ballot this fall:
But ... just as we reached this momentous milestone, a statehouse Republican proposed a new bill that would virtually make all abortions in Florida illegal.
So, the truth is, even though we are fired up about this victory, we still face MANY hurdles.
In February, we have to ensure that the Florida Supreme Court approves our ballot referendum language, and then we have only nine short months to ensure that at least 60% of voters support the measure in the general election in November.
Running a statewide campaign is not easy – or cheap – but we know that we have the support of voters on our side and that we CAN WIN in November, despite what curveballs are thrown our way.
All of this, of course, couldn't and wouldn't have been possible without your support. We cannot thank you enough, but the fight goes on.
As we move into the next phase of our work to protect the health and well-being of 4 million women and girls in Florida amid ever-growing attacks on our efforts, can you step up with a gift of $25 or more?
Thank you again. Your support was instrumental in securing this victory, and we hope to secure the future of abortion access together.
