Hi friend,
I didn’t know what my undocumented status meant until I was 16 years old and trying to get my driver’s permit, just like every other kid I went to school with.
I was deemed different, though, because my family overstayed our visa after leaving Guatemala in 2001. As I got older, the challenges I faced because of my status only grew, until the DACA program started and my world opened up.
Because I was protected by DACA, I was able to finish college, advance in my career, and even go back to school to get my MBA in 2019. I can live and work without the constant fear of deportation.
I’ve traveled to 38 states and am working on visiting all 50 someday soon. The United States is my home, and it’s terrifying to think the DACA program that allowed me to build a life here could possibly be reversed by the Supreme Court this year.
That’s why United We Dream Action is gearing up for not only the DACA fights ahead, but ALSO to secure a pathway to citizenship for all 11 million undocumented people. DACA was never enough, and now is the time to use our momentum to fight for more. Will you join us with a donation today:

I’m involved in the UWDA community because I know this is a group of immigrants and allies that always work together to support each other even when all hope seems lost. We will continue to fight for immigrant rights until all of us can live in the country we call home without fear of deportation or losing our loved ones.
Thanks for being on our team,
Mario, United We Dream Action
