Do You Support Protecting Social Security and Medicare?

John,
The Social Security Administration has announced the new cost-of-living adjustment, or COLA, of 3.2% that will affect our hard-working seniors next year.
But while hundreds of thousands of Michiganders depend on Social Security to pay their bills and retire with the financial security they’ve earned, John James and the Republican Study Committee have spent the year trying to slash those benefits and make retirement more difficult.
The proposals from the Republican Study Committee would not only significantly slash benefits - by at least one-third - they would also raise the age of eligibility for Social Security, long after many of you started preparing for retirement.
This is unacceptable, John. And we have to let them know it.
Will you take a brief survey letting us know your thoughts on protecting and strengthening Social Security and Medicare?
I grew up in a working-class, proud union family. My parents weren’t strangers to taking on extra work and leaning on the community when things got tough. Since then, through a folding table and a phone book, I’ve dedicated my career to preparing working people for a brighter future. I know how crucial the retirement benefits you’ve paid into are to your future, your planning, and your well-being.
From the cost of critical care to prescription drugs to assisted living we can all agree we want for ourselves, our parents and our grandparents to age with dignity, even if John James and the RSC doesn’t. But we want to know how you feel.
Take this short survey letting us know your thoughts on Social Security and Medicare.
We’re in this together,
Diane
