NY-3’s communities in eastern Queens and Long Island will finally have the chance to elect a real representative on February 13th in a special election to replace Chief Con-man, George Santos.
After a year taken up by lies and corruption, these communities are ready to move on and elect a leader who knows their community, knows their priorities, and will be an honest member of the US House of Representatives – that leader is Tom Suozzi. By the end of January, Republicans will only have a two-vote majority in the House. NY-3 is the first of five New York districts that we can flip from Republican to Democrat in 2024 to take back the House.
While the nature of the election has garnered wide popularity, the fact is that special elections typically show incredibly low turnout. In 2022, New York Congressional Special Elections' turnout ranged from 17% - 27%. That means under one-third of constituents are deciding who is representing the entire district.
