Did you see the news? Nonpartisan political forecasters at an organization called Split Ticket are reporting that, in the current political environment, the pure fundamentals of our race make the Michigan Senate race a TOSS-UP.

This comes just a few weeks after Cook Political Report downgraded the presidential race in Michigan from “Lean D” to “Toss-Up”.

Add it all up, and it becomes clear that the path to controlling the Senate and the White House runs right through Michigan.

Why is this important? Well, it confirms something Michiganders know, which is, Michigan is NOT a solidly blue state. Despite the great success Democrats have had up and down the ticket the last few years, Michigan is a pendulum that constantly swings back and forth under the right conditions (just look back at 2016 when Donald Trump won Michigan by 10,704 votes).

This means that the second people sleep on Michigan and ride on previous successes, Democrats lose the state. We need to be doing everything we can right now to set us up for success on Election Day so we can protect the White House and defend the Senate. In addition, we know that millions of dollars from conservative megadonors and Super PACs are on the way to prop up our eventual opponent – setting up a battle royale here in Michigan, with control of both the White House and the Senate on the line.

This is why we reach out to you with the frequency that we do: we’re focused on ensuring our campaign has the resources necessary to fight back against the attack ads and outside spending that are quickly coming our way.
