Short brings to Claremont several years of digital communications experience, including previously serving as a digital media consultant for Salem Media and Digital Media Director for the Security Studies Group. “Nick Short is a ‘digital ninja’ with an impressive following and skill set that have caught the attention of some of the most prominent and visible voices in politics today, including President Trump,” said Ryan Williams, president of The Claremont Institute. “His keen eye for political trends online will be an effective force for placing Claremont ideas at the center of the most important conversations happening on the Right—and the Left—online today.” “I’m thrilled to have Nick, who has built a massive digital network of his own, working with us to fight back against the ideas driving the ‘woke’ Left and NeverTrump Right, which are primarily hashed out online,” added Matthew Peterson, founder and editor-in-chief of The American Mind and vice president of education at Claremont. In addition to his extensive professional background in digital communications, Short manages his @PoliticalShort Twitter account and Politcal Short newsletter, which boast 180,000 followers and subscribers, respectively. His byline has appeared on The Federalist and his online commentary has been shared by public figures such as President Donald Trump, Michelle Malkin, Katie Pavlich, Lou Dobbs, Mollie Hemingway, Kimberly Strassel, Richard Grenell, and Andrew McCarthy, to name several. Short is a welcome addition to the Claremont Institute, whose mission is to “restore the principles of the American founding to their rightful, preeminent authority in our national life.” For nearly 40 years, the Claremont Institute has been a strong and effective leader in the fight to recover and preserve the American idea. Founded in 1979, the Claremont Institute publishes the Claremont Review of Books and American Mind; sponsors the Publius, Lincoln, John Marshall, and Speechwriters Fellowships for rising leaders; defends the Constitution and the principles of the revolution in our nation’s courts through our Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence; and administers a variety of programs and publications on politics and constitutionalism.
