Friends,
I have said before that I will do everything in my power to keep the families of Upstate New York safe and healthy as our country responds to the coronavirus outbreak. With that in mind, I wanted to reach out directly and let you know that out of an abundance of caution, I will be self quarantining until next Friday.
I recently found out that a member of Congress I was in contact with last week recently tested for COVID-19. Thankfully, I currently have no symptoms and am in good health. Rest assured, I will remain fully accessible while teleworking from home and will continue to fight tooth and nail to make sure our community withstands this pandemic.
Last night, our country took a big step in the right direction: President Trump signed our Families First Coronavirus Response Act into law, bringing $33.7 million in emergency funding to our district.
I was proud to work with leaders on both sides of the aisle to get this done, but there is still so much more work left to do.
That’s why I joined 14 members of Congress in signing a bipartisan letter asking President Trump to declare New York state a disaster area and free up more resources to fight the coronavirus outbreak.
As we continue to follow the guidelines laid out by medical experts and the Centers for Disease Control, I want to reinforce that I am here for you, friends -- and I will be fighting for Upstate New York every step up the way.
None of us can weather this alone, and despite the physical distance, we are in it together.
Yours,
Anthony Brindisi
