Dear Friends,
Congress is officially back in session for the second year of the 118th Congress, and I am excited to continue to deliver for the Second Congressional District. From fighting for critical legislation to delivering resources for our communities, I have already hit the ground running to make 2024 an impactful year for our district.
Hoopeston Mobile Office Hours
Do you need help with a federal agency, receiving benefits, or getting your passport? Come to my Hoopeston Office Hours on January 30th. My district representatives will be at Hoopeston City Hall to assist you.
Challenging Big Tobacco
For decades, tobacco companies have targeted Black communities with marketing for menthol cigarettes. Menthols make it easier for young people to take up smoking and keep smoking throughout their lives, increasing the risk for devastating conditions like heart and lung disease. In August, I led 32 of my colleagues to call on the Biden-Harris Administration to finalize the FDA ban on menthol cigarettes. This week, I renewed that call, stressing the ban’s importance and its public health benefits.
Visiting Under Carrey's Care Early Learning Center
I visited Under Carrey’s Care Early Learning to discuss how Congress can invest in early childhood development. I appreciated the opportunity to hear from their dedicated staff and learn more about how I can support their work. Congress must continue to invest in the resources our children need to grow and thrive.
If you would like to share your thoughts with me, feel free to visit my website. You can also keep in touch through Facebook and X (formerly Twitter).
Sincerely,
Robin L. Kelly Member of Congress
