Hi,

Thursday night, the United States launched airstrikes into Houthi-held territory in Yemen, killing at least 5 people and wounding at least 6. And the Houthis have vowed a “fierce retaliation.”1

President Biden’s decision to bomb Houthi-held areas of Yemen is reckless and dangerous — fueling the likelihood of the Israel-Palestine war expanding into regional conflict in the Middle East and the United States becoming more directly involved in the war. The bombings are also unconstitutional and break with the War Powers Act.

President Biden is coming dangerously close to sparking a regional war involving the United States and other countries in the Middle East, like Iran. The White House must immediately shift to de-escalation, return to diplomacy, and negotiate a permanent ceasefire in the Israel-Palestine war.

Sign the petition: Urge President Biden to stop bombing Yemen, de-escalate tensions in the Middle East, and negotiate a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.

While the ongoing Houthi disruption of commercial shipping in the Red Sea is concerning, this is precisely a situation that demands congressional deliberation, as escalating attacks on Houthi targets in Yemen opens up U.S. troops to likely counter-attacks, which could fuel this regional conflict even further and embroil the United States in another endless war.

Instead of pushing for solutions that move the region towards de-escalation, such as a negotiated ceasefire in Israel and Palestine, Biden has decided to add fuel to the fire and snub congressional war powers in the process. Americans must now stand unequivocally against more war in the Middle East and urge President Biden to reverse course.

Add your name: Stop bombing Yemen, stop fueling a wider war in the Middle East!

Thanks for taking action,

Mark and the team at Demand Progress
