The Week in Review
Happy Friday!
I hope you had a wonderful week. I am grateful to serve you all in the 118th Congress. Read below to see what I’ve been working on this week.
Returning to Washington for the Second Session of the 118th Congress
The House of Representatives returned to the nation’s capital to begin the second session of the 118th Congress. We hit the ground running as we have a plethora of issues to address—ranging from a bloated budget to a porous southern border. I look forward to working with my colleagues during these next 12 months to get our nation back on track.
Holding Hunter Biden in Contempt of Congress
The House Oversight & Accountability and House Judiciary committees advanced resolutions recommending that the House of Representatives hold Hunter Biden in contempt of Congress for his refusal to comply with lawfully issued subpoenas.
On December 13, 2023, Hunter skipped the deposition for which he had been subpoenaed and instead led a defiant press conference on the Senate steps where he took no questions from the gathered media before driving away. Individuals subpoenaed by Congress are not able to demand the conditions under which they appear. Unfortunately for him, that’s not how the law works.
After his PR stunt last month, Hunter then proceeded to stroll in—unannounced—to the House Oversight & Accountability Committee’s markup of his contempt of Congress report this week. He sat silently in the front row for several minutes, then bolted away when Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene began addressing him.
Hunter Biden is making a mockery of lawfully issued subpoenas. These stunts are reinforcing his contempt of Congress. Justice should be served swiftly.
The full House of Representatives will formally vote to hold Hunter in contempt of Congress next week.
I’ll keep you all posted.
House Oversight & Accountability Committee Activity
The subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs held a hearing titled “The Risks of Progressive Ideologies in the U.S. Military.” In this hearing, we addressed how the Biden Administration’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) priorities are harming military readiness.
In 2021, President Biden signed an executive order directing all federal agencies to develop plans to advance DEI. The Biden Administration requested $114.7 million for DEI programs and staff for Fiscal Year 2024.
As threats from adversaries like Russia, China, and Iran continue to increase, it’s imperative that our military focus on readiness and lethality rather than progressive ideologies.

House Judiciary Committee Activity
The subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement held a hearing titled “The Impact of Illegal Immigration on Social Services.” We examined how Biden’s border crisis overwhelms American communities' schools, hospitals, emergency services, law enforcement, and other social services at the expense of American citizens and lawful residents.
We’re seeing the consequences of Biden’s open border across the nation. Citizens in Yuma, Arizona, must drive hours to receive emergency care due to illegal aliens taking up beds in Yuma’s main hospital. New York City Public Schools estimate that it will cost $1 billion to educate illegal aliens flooding into the city. Students at James Madison High School in New York are being forced to learn virtually so their school building can be used to house nearly 2,000 illegal aliens. Every state is a border state.
American citizens should never come second to illegal aliens. The Biden regime must be held accountable for their refusal to enforce our laws.

Speaking About Biden's Border Crisis on the House Floor
I joined Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) and other House conservatives to address the ongoing invasion at our southern border. The Biden regime’s negligence of our borders is a threat to American national security and has turned every state into a border state. Americans are fed up with political elites who refuse to enforce our immigration laws.

Addressing Medical Issues Resulting from COVID Vaccines
I participated in a COVID-19 vaccine roundtable led by Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA). This roundtable investigated medical issues such as myocarditis, strokes, blood clots, related to these experimental vaccines. I thank Dr. Peter McCullough, Dr. Ryan Cole, and Dr. Kirk Milhoan for providing me with more knowledge on these dangerous vaccines. At the congressional level, I will continue to fight against COVID-19 vaccine mandates and seek to hold those who inflicted harm on Americans accountable.

The 30-minute documentary features footage from private ranches along the border, the Darien Gap in Panama, and interviews with members of Congress, Border Patrol, local and state law enforcement, and much more. It addresses how President Biden’s border crisis began, its consequences, and solutions to address the crisis.
