The
Friday File
A Weekly Publication
| |
Greetings!
Welcome to the new and improved updated Friday File for 2024!
While this publication will appear different, much of the content will remain similar. We listened to your input and are hopeful this new layout makes The Friday File an easier, faster, and more concise read and ultimately more beneficial to you.
With that said, let's get started! We have much work to do in the new year, and the KSGOP team has been busy creating a new theme for 2024. It's called “RunRight,” and everything about the coming year will be framed with this year's latest campaign, “RunRight2024”. You will see this logo and the fruit it bears throughout 2024. Its debut will occur at our KSGOP state convention later this month!

Lloyd Austin, United States Secretary of Defense,
Must Resign
Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin's recent hospitalization has unearthed unsettling truths about the state of leadership within America's armed forces. Beyond the veil of secrecy and questionable decisions lies a systemic dysfunction that poses a serious threat to national security. His immediate resignation is imperative, not just for optics, but for the sake of safeguarding our nation.
A secretary of defense isn't a mere figurehead; they symbolize our military prowess, providing assurance to allies and dissuasion to adversaries. However, Austin's prolonged absence during a critical period was a stark abandonment of duty, casting doubt on his ability to lead effectively in times of need.
The secretive handling of Austin's health situation reeks of arrogance and entitlement. The American people and those under his command deserve transparency. The intentional exclusion of Deputy Secretary Kathleen Hicks and General C.Q. Brown from crucial information raises alarming concerns about the chain of command and reveals deeper issues within the Pentagon.
The breakdown in communication surrounding Austin's condition is a glaring security lapse. In an era of constant threats, the health of the secretary of defense is a matter of national importance. This failure to communicate adequately is unacceptable.
These incidents aren't isolated; they indicate a consistent pattern of poor judgment and a leadership void in the Defense Department. National security cannot be gambled with. We urgently require a secretary of defense who instills confidence, values transparency, and fosters a culture of competence within the Pentagon. Austin's inability to fulfill these criteria necessitates his resignation, not just for political expediency, but as a vital national necessity.
The American people deserve a leader who embodies strength, both physically and in character, to safeguard our nation and our armed forces. Regrettably, Lloyd Austin falls short of this standard. His tenure must conclude immediately in the best interest of our country's security and well-being.

Happy Birthday
Rush Limbaugh
| |
Rush Limbaugh, born on January 12, 1951, emerged as a prominent conservative voice in the 1990s, hosting a national TV show from 1992 to 1996. His radio program became the most-listened-to in the U.S., drawing 15.5 million weekly listeners, as estimated by Talkers Magazine in December 2019. Limbaugh authored seven books, two of which made The New York Times Best Seller list: "The Way Things Ought to Be" (1992) and "See, I Told You So" (1993).
Controversy surrounded Limbaugh due to his views on race, LGBT issues, feminism, sexual consent, and climate change. Despite this, he received accolades, being inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 1993, the National Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 1998, and awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Trump during the 2020 State of the Union Address.
Acknowledged as a key conservative figure, Limbaugh received praise from former President Ronald Reagan, who credited him for promoting Republican and conservative ideals. Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives honored him as an honorary member in 1994. He served as the inspiration for Birch Barlow, a character on "The Simpsons," starting in 1994.
Limbaugh's influence extended to media appearances, including a 1995 PBS Frontline documentary titled "Rush Limbaugh's America," where despite his refusal to be interviewed, his family, supporters, critics, and opponents participated. Known for his love of cigars and distinctive neckties, he even launched a line of ties designed by his then-wife Marta due to viewer interest.
His impact on radio was immense, earning him prestigious awards such as the Marconi Radio Award for Syndicated Radio Personality of the Year multiple times. Limbaugh signed lucrative contracts, notably a $285 million deal in 2001, renewed in 2008 for $400 million. He ranked as one of the highest-paid radio hosts in the U.S., earning $84 million annually by 2017, second only to Howard Stern. Limbaugh's prowess in radio was unrivaled, with Talkers Magazine naming him the greatest-ever radio talk show host in 2002 and consistently ranking as the most-listened-to host in the country.
On a personal level, Limbaugh influenced the political perspective of many, including myself, fostering and bolstering conservative beliefs and thought. His absence is still felt, and my longing to tune in to his show at 11 am stands as a testament to his enduring legacy.
Rush Limbaugh may be gone, but he is far from forgotten.

This is a weekly reminder that Joe Biden, President of the United States, and his son, Hunter Biden, are liars and kingpins in a crime syndicate ring.
The Biden family has betrayed America, committing the crime of treason. They must be held accountable.
Impeach Biden Now
#NeverForget

The handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal under Joe Biden was widely criticized for its chaotic execution, erasing decades of women rights progress, leaving a global feeling of disillusionment and raising significant concerns about the disastrous impact on regional stability and global security. | |

Meet the Candidates
KSGOP National Committeewoman
and Committeeman
|
|
|
I appreciate this opportunity to introduce myself, my name is Maria Holiday and I am currently the Chair of the Johnson County Republican Party. It is one of many roles I have held in Kansas politics. I was born in Wichita and raised in Ellinwood in Barton County. My family moved to Garden City when I was a sophomore. After high school, I graduated from St. Mary of the Plains in Dodge City with a degree in education. My husband's job brought us to Johnson County in 1992. Doc and I have three grown children, four granddaughters, and a lab mix named Ebony.
I believe the Republican Party has a winning platform. “We The People,” must pull together to defend our country. I have and will continue to fight for truth! We need leadership who is not timid about promoting our platform.
As your National Committeewoman, I will have a vote for new National leadership in 2025. I will vote for a leader that will listen to the grassroots. We need an RNC that can create excitement and hope for the future. We need the RNC to support conservative ideals, project political strength, and win the big races across America and Kansas. “We The People” are desperately waiting for an RNC that is not afraid to take ACTION!
In addition to being the Johnson County Chair, I have been the Chair for the Kansas Republican Assembly, the secretary for the 3rd Congressional District, a grassroots coordinator for Phill Kline, a campaign volunteer for multiple campaigns, a campaign manager, and a candidate for public office. I am a 2007 graduate of the Eisenhower Women in Leadership Series. I am unabashedly pro-life, and I have always supported Republican leadership.
In my first year as Johnson County Chair, our JCRP team rebuilt our website and added a campaign toolkit for candidates. We have established messaging recommendations, created precinct committee persons recruitment and training committees, held candidate training, and remodeled our office so our 2 dozen local Republican groups have a home large enough to hold their meetings and events. We doubled fundraising this year over last and got a record number of Republicans out to vote in a local election.
If you want a National Committee Woman who gets things done - I’m your girl. I care about our country. I care about saving it.

Wendy is currently serving as the Chair of the Third District Republican Party and previously served as the Chair of the Olathe Republican Party. She is a graduate of the Eisenhower Series and a member of the KFRW. In 2020, she personally knocked the entirety of four critical Kansas House districts and won them all. These wins allowed Republicans to keep their supermajority and deliver on key proposals. As a Johnson County Charter Commissioner, Wendy won a battle to keep the sheriff an elected office and blocked a radical proposal for a public health and safety governing board. Wendy is a mother, wife, K-State alumna, and proud Kansas conservative.
Blessings,
Wendy
| | My life has been a series of events preparing me for these times. Husband, father, physician, farmer, oil & gas producer, general contractor: my specialty has been tackling new challenges head on, and with God’s grace…. successfully. In the spirit of servant leadership, I ask for your support for Kansas Republican Party National Committeeman. As an elected County precinct committeeman, District Delegate, State Delegate, and Kansas State Senator, I have led the grassroots’ charge back to the CONSTITUTION, our FREEDOMS, and the TRUTH. I pledge to promote our Kansas Republican Party Platform unapologetically from “Sea to Shining Sea”. UNITY is ultimately found within our values and principles, it’s also where success resides and where a true “Red Wave” begins. The RNC struggles to define what they stand for as their thinking is frequently usurped by big-money donors committed to their selfish interests. Endorsements: the approval I seek is from WE THE PEOPLE, while they are rarely famous, they are Kansas’ greatest asset. My heart and soul are firmly planted in the Kansas Grassroots. A vote for me will be a vote for a Republican revival, a resurgence. I WILL NOT DISAPPOINT!! See my resume at SteffenForKansas.com. Facebook: Dr. Mark Steffen. Cell: 620-802-1188 | |
Helping elect solid conservatives to office and advancing the America First agenda has been a lifelong endeavor for me. My most valued political experience is what I've gained as a grassroots activist working with conservatives to elect Republicans. I've served as:
Precinct committeeman
Field Director for Todd Tiahrt for Congress
Kansas GOP State Committee Delegate
Sedgwick County Republican Central Committee Chairman
Kansas Fourth District Republican Treasurer
Kansas Fourth District Chairman
Kansas State Representative
Vice Chair of the Kansas Republican House Campaign Committee
I’ve helped maintain a Republican majority in the Kansas House, fought to keep our Republican primaries closed, recruited conservatives to run for office, and raised money for candidates and conservative initiatives. As a member of the RNC, I am working to strengthen the integrity of our elections and to build conservative coalitions. It’s critical work I hope to continue.
My decades of service to the Republican Party helped me earn the support of three of Kansas's Republican Congressional District Chairs – Laura Francis, Eric Rucker, and Debbie Luper. I hope to earn your support as well.

Meet the Candidates
Kansas College Republicans
| My name is Garrett Henson and I am from Valley Falls, KS. I am currently a criminal justice major at Washburn University and I am running for Chair of the Kansas Federation of College Republicans. I am running for this position because it has been made clear to me that young conservatives across the state are ready for change. I look to boost College Republican membership across the state and fight for our shared conservative values in 2024! | |
