Folks – I was packing last night and it hit me...it’s been almost exactly 21 years since another major anti-war march I participated in. |

It was 2003. The Bush administration was speedrunning us into a second war. Millions of us across the U.S. and the world marched to stop them. But one month later – around the time my first child was born – George W. Bush illegally invaded Iraq.
All of us who marched against the invasion were maligned and accused of sympathizing with terrorists. History proved us right – but not before millions of Iraqis paid the price.
Right now, I’m on a plane bound for Washington D.C., where tomorrow I will join a mass mobilization organized by the American Muslim Task Force for Palestine and the ANSWER Coalition to stop the Gaza genocide. |

That march 21 years ago was a make-or-break moment. The imperial powers of the West, led by the nose by the United States, failed that test. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and thousands of troops and civilian contractors died because of that failure. Millions more were injured or displaced when we left Iraq in pieces.
Right now Palestinians are being slaughtered daily in Gaza on a scale not seen in living memory. Their cities, their homes, their heritage is being leveled and erased by Netanyahu’s nonstop bombing.
We cannot fail this test again. Gaza needs us.
