With a heavy heart, I have some news for you today: I have decided to end my campaign for Congress.

I've spent my life giving back to Western Wisconsin–first at the United Way, then for more than two decades on the La Crosse County Board of Supervisors–and I always will. My work building community, mentoring dynamic local leaders in public service, and bringing people together to tackle some of our community's most challenging and urgent issues is work that I am incredibly proud of.

I saw myself continuing on the path of public service and launched my campaign for Congress to fight for a woman's right to choose, to protect a democracy that includes and respects all, and to champion rural Wisconsin communities that are too often left behind.

But there are times in life that make you reflect. I am still grieving the loss of my father, who died only a few weeks ago. And I value the time I am able to spend with my family–our children and my husband, Tim–who have always supported me.

That time of reflection also sharpened my focus on the imperative we as Democrats have to beat Derrick Van Orden and reclaim the 3rd CD seat. I've worked to help so many women run and win elections at every level. Running in a four-way primary, including three females, demonstrates the progress we have made. And such a crowded field means we are consumed with competing for the money to win the August primary when beating Derrick Van Orden in November is the most important thing.

Each and every one of you made this journey a joy for me. I am honored and humbled by your support and am forever grateful.

I look forward to continuing to do everything I can to elect Democrats up and down the ballot in Wisconsin. From working to flip our State Assembly and State Senate to re-electing President Joe Biden and Senator Tammy Baldwin to elect progressives to every local office, we have work to do, and I'll be by your side for all of it.
