Adam Schiff for Senate

John,

One of my proudest accomplishments as a State Senator was establishing the Gold Line Light.

I’ve worked for years to support public transit in California, and the many amazing transit workers who keep it running. And I’m proud to have been endorsed by the Amalgamated Transit Union.

I know it might sound a bit unusual that light rail is one of the most exciting things I’ve worked on.

But let me take a moment to explain why expanding Metro light rail across Southern California is emblematic of the public service I try to embody every single day, whether as a State Senator, a member of Congress, or hopefully as a U.S. Senator.

→ It helps the environment! Light Rail reduces carbon emissions, decreases air pollution, and eases traffic congestion, something we have plenty of in California.

→ It’s about working together: During my time in the State Senate, I worked with both Democrats and Republicans to get this legislation across the finish line.

→ It’s about listening to voters and constituents to hear what will actually make a difference: I spoke to people in my district who were desperately hoping for an alternative way to get across town. I listened and got to work to find a solution.

→ It’s about fixing what’s broken and setting up for future successes: At the time I passed the Gold Line Light Rail Authority, the Metro line was dying from cost overruns. I worked to identify the issues with the service, wrote legislation to fix it, and ultimately created a model for what other mass transit projects in California would look like.

The Metro Gold Line, now a part of the A and E Lines, thanks to more exciting rail expansions continues to serve millions of people daily, and I’m honored to have the title, “Father of the Gold Line.”

John, as California’s next U.S. Senator, I will always look for opportunities to make a real difference in people’s lives. I’ll listen to voters, work with broad coalitions, and take on the tough fights. If you support this work, please chip in $3 to my campaign for Senate today.

Thank you for reading this longer note. Maybe I’ll see you on the Metro someday!
