In 1948, President Harry S. Truman famously coined the phrase “Do Nothing Congress". That year, Congress passed 511 bills that were signed into law. 

Fast forward to 2023: 27 bills were enacted into law – the lowest number in 50 years. And we know who to thank for that.

Despite the clear strides by House Democrats to lower inflation, make insulin and other prescription drugs cheaper, revitalize our infrastructure, and make our communities safer — the GOP House Majority caused our government to stagnate in ways we haven't seen for a long time.

GOP dysfunction has brought our legislative body to a standstill. House Republicans have spent their time on anything but delivering legislation that helps working people and families.

This is the party that wasted an entire month and brought Congress to a standstill fighting over a House Speaker.  When Democrats were ready to show up and get to work for the American people, House Republicans refused to play ball. Instead, they proposed extreme legislation that nobody wants — like repealing firearm restrictions.

As another shutdown looms, it appears we're in for another year of GOP dysfunction putting progress on hold until we can flip the House.
