Friend --

"My humanity is bound up in yours." - Desmond Tutu

I hope that this email finds you and your loved ones healthy and safe. I am writing today to update you from CLUE and to offer words of solidarity as our current crisis continues to unfold.

The coronavirus is already upending the lives of millions of Americans -- especially those who work low-paying jobs, hourly employees, immigrants, detained persons, and unhoused persons. Children are out of school, businesses shuttered, and workers laid off. At no other time in our recent memory have the lives, safety, and stability of the most vulnerable among us been so threatened.?

Although we are working remotely, CLUE is continuing to bring together faith communities to walk with, and advocate for, workers, immigrants, and low-income families at this critical time.

With Healthy LA Coalition <[link removed]>, we are advocating for legislation at the city level that will protect the lives of millions while we navigate this crisis. In Orange County, we are working closely with our partners to demand greater protections for our most vulnerable community members. Critical needs include: housing stability, health protection and training for hospitality workers, and protection from layoffs.?

Thanks to your phone calls and emails earlier in the week, the city of Los Angeles has offered some concessions, but workers, immigrants, and low-income families are far from secure so the campaign continues. (You can find action alert updates and requests for support here <[link removed]>.)

We are also reaching out to offer support, resources, advocacy, and pastoral care to all of our congregational partners, labor partners, organizational partners, and committee members.

If you are in a position to support this vital work, please consider making a gift to CLUE of any amount today. This is a safe and impactful way to join together with 900+ religious leaders and communities of faith to improve the lives of millions of vulnerable families. Here is a link <[link removed]> to give. No amount is too small.

While this is an incredibly scary time, CLUE is steadfast in its dedication to continue to advocate for workers and immigrants, and we know that we will come out on the other side of this crisis stronger than before. We will continue to be in touch with you over the course of this pandemic with words of inspiration, action alerts, and more.

In faith and solidarity,

Michelle M. Seyler, J.D.
