These frontline organizations need urgent help to protect those at risk for devastating impacts from coronavirus — people currently incarcerated in jails and prisons or trapped in immigration detention facilities and refugee camps.

Friend,

As our nation works to respond to the coronavirus pandemic, people who are right now incarcerated in our jails, prisons, immigration detention facilities; those trapped in refugee camps; and domestic workers are especially vulnerable. These people urgently need bold and immediate action to ensure they are protected during this growing global crisis.

You can help right now by giving to these three groups. The following organizations support and protect these vulnerable populations and need your immediate support to continue their vital efforts. All donated funds will go directly to these groups and support their work:

  • The National Bail Out Collective brings people home from incarceration, reuniting families and keeping people safe and free which can alleviate some of the worst effects on the incarcerated community during this crisis.
  • The National Domestic Workers Alliance’s Coronavirus Care Fund will provide immediate financial support for domestic workers, and enable them to stay home and healthy.
  • Global Response Management provides lifesaving and high-quality emergency and trauma care to asylum seekers currently stuck at the Mexican border and is currently building medical care systems to respond to these incredibly dangerous circumstances.

Contribute $5 or more now to support all three of these vital organizations as they work to protect the communities and families especially vulnerable to coronavirus.

The coronavirus pandemic has made our nation’s incarceration crisis all the more dire. Those incarcerated in America’s jails and prisons generally have increased levels of underlying chronic health issues, are unable to access even the most basic medical care, and cannot practice social distancing to prevent the spread of the virus.

It’s no secret that jails and prisons have long struggled to meet basic hygiene standards. To make matters worse, many states have relied on extreme sentencing for decades, resulting in a growing elderly population in prisons who we know are some of the most at risk to the virus.

Likewise, the thousands of asylum-seeking families dangerously trapped in refugee camps because of U.S. policy at the border with Mexico are in extreme danger. Many are sleeping outdoors, malnourished with limited to no access to medical care. Additionally, they cannot distance themselves from one another due to the risks of kidnapping and violence.

Domestic workers, for their part, are also on the frontlines, taking care of the people we love most. It is critical that we continue showing them support at this time because they keep our communities whole.

These groups are doing everything they can to protect at-risk communities. Will you step up and ensure that they have the funding they need right now?

Make a $5 contribution now to support these organizations fighting the coronavirus crisis and protecting vulnerable populations.

FWD.us is proud to uplift these and other organizations working to protect communities during this health emergency and we will continue to keep you updated on ways you can best support critical efforts.
