John,
As our state and country respond to Coronavirus (COVID-19), I understand how difficult and uncertain this time is for so many families across North Carolina and nationwide.
At the same time, I’m encouraged by the stories I’m hearing from folks all over the state during this crisis — neighbors taking care of neighbors, food banks and charities who are doing whatever they can to make sure folks have what they need, employers going above and beyond to care for their employees, and of course, our health professionals and first responders, who are working around the clock to keep our communities as healthy and safe as possible.
In times like these, it’s so important we come together, do everything we can to stop this virus from spreading, and help those most in need.
Our schools and students are facing new challenges as they navigate this crisis, and it is so essential that North Carolina students have the resources to succeed.
In response, The North Carolina Foundation for Public School Children has established a new non-profit relief fund (1) to help school personnel meet the critical needs of their students and (2) to reimburse educators for out-of-pocket expenses they incur to provide at-home or online instruction. In our family, we are strong believers in the mission of the Foundation and this year my wife Elizabeth volunteered to chair their board. The work they are doing — especially in this moment — is so important to support our educators and the students they serve.
Please join me in supporting this non-profit relief fund. Your donation today can help North Carolina educators and the students that they serve to overcome this uncertain time. You can also help by sharing information about the relief fund with educators you know.
Any help you can provide is appreciated, but the most important thing you can do right now is take care of yourself and your loved ones.
By coming together and serving those who need us the most, we also gather the strength to overcome this crisis—and we become a source of confidence and hope for others.
Thank you,
Cal
