Hi friend, I'm proud to support my friend Elissa Slotkin's campaign for US Senate in Michigan. Please read her personal update below and split a donations between our campaigns today if you can. — MS

Hi there,

2024 is off to an exciting start: We just got the first general election public poll in our race since early fall — and A LOT has changed since then. I wanted to share a bit more about what we learned from this new poll and — importantly — how we use information like this to inform our campaign strategy, especially now that we’re fully in the election year.

But first, the toplines of the poll:

Elissa Slotkin: 37.5%
Republican Mike Rogers: 37.5%

Elissa Slotkin: 36.3%
Republican Peter Meijer: 35.7%

Elissa Slotkin: 35.5%
Republican James Craig: 37.8%

In other words, we’re currently statistically tied with 3 of the top Republicans in the race. And that’s no surprise: Anyone who knows Michigan well could tell you that this race was going to be incredibly close. On top of that, the presidential race here in Michigan remains very competitive – meaning we’ll have not only one, but two close races to win here in November.

But I’m a bit of a data nerd, so I like to go beyond the toplines. And while a poll this early always has to be taken with a grain of salt, here’s one of the numbers my team and I are watching: name identification, or ID, aka the percentage of the 10 million people across Michigan who have heard of me. Right now, that’s about 45% of Michiganders – not surprising, given that I have only represented my one congressional district the last few years, and we have a big state.

And while all of the GOP opponents have less name ID, our number one priority in this campaign is introducing myself to the millions of people who live a ways from my current district. This poll is a reminder that we’ve still got a ways to go, particularly with the many Michiganders who have little interest in government and politics.

Another key takeaway: No matter which Republican candidate is on the other side, more than a quarter of all voters remain undecided. Those are the people we need to communicate with -– and who will ultimately decide this election, as well as the Presidential race.

We’ve been doing the work of traveling across Michigan, but now that we’re in the election year, things will ramp up FAST. We’ll be spending the next 10 months visiting as many cities and towns as we can, sending mail, putting up ads on TV, investing in digital ads, and running a robust field operation.

All of those things are represented by line items in our budget. We’ve mapped out what it will take to win, but we know this race will be one of the most competitive and expensive in the country, which means that we are relying on people like you to chip in and make our plans a reality.

Will you split a contribution between my campaign and Mikie to help me introduce myself to voters across Michigan and win this competitive race in November?
