This is a critical year for our country. Come November, there are two starkly different paths ahead of us:
Either we can cede control to an anti-democratic GOP led by Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell — a group that is determined to ban reproductive rights, make it easier for criminals to purchase guns, raise health care costs, and pollute our planet.
Or, we can defeat those right-wing forces and continue to fight for women’s reproductive freedom, expand health care access, enact common-sense gun violence prevention, and build an economy that works for everyone.
I know the path I want to go down — and if you’re reading this, I think you do, too.
Here’s the problem: I’m already facing nearly a dozen Republican opponents in my race, I know Mitch McConnell and his allies are prepared to spend millions of dollars to defeat me, and Trump himself has said he’s determined to take back Virginia.
So I can’t take a single vote — or dollar — for granted.
