Building a Brighter Future For your Children - Reminder to Have Your Say
A reminder that there’s still chance to have your say on plans to build a better, brighter future for you and your children.
We are working towards spending millions on new Family Hubs across Oldham.
These hubs are one-stop shops for families, offering a wide range of support and activities including midwifery and development clinics, Stay and Play sessions and breastfeeding support.
As part of the plans, existing children’s centres will transformed into seven Family Hubs across the borough to support for parents-to-be, parents of children aged 0-19 and young people up to the age of 25 with SEND, with no reduction in services.
It’s important that you let us know what you think by taking part in our survey which runs until January 29.

Vapes and tobacco seizures – illegal profits go up in smoke!
Our Trading Standards department has seized almost £100,000 worth of illegal vapes and illicit tobacco in just five months.
By doing so we've not only disrupted traders who sell goods that are unlawful and potentially unsafe but also protected the health of Oldhamers - including many young people.

Have Your Say On How Oldham is Developed in Future
We’ve launched a consultation giving you the opportunity to have your say on how Oldham should develop in the future.
The council is preparing a new Local Plan – a document which will guide and manage growth and developments, such as housing, the local economy and community facilities, up to 2039.
Through previous consultations, people across the borough have been helping us to develop the plan. It is now at draft plan stage – and once again, we want you to share your views.
You can comment on a range of topics including housing, town centres, transport and climate change.
You can take part via our online consultation portal, [Big Oldham Conversation]([link removed]) – other ways to have your say are detailed on our [website]([link removed]).
The consultation is open until 21 February 2024.

Residents Urged to Burn Better This Winter
If you use an open fire or stove in during the winter months to stay warm, it is important to know how to burn safely.
All stove and fire smoke releases tiny particles that can damage your health and the health of those around you.
You can’t always see them, but that doesn’t mean they’re not there.
But if you have to burn this winter, follow the rules and find out if you are in a Smoke Control Area. Always choose fuels that are cleaner to burn.
Look for the ‘Ready to Burn’ logo on bagged fuel. And have a professional clean and maintain your appliance.
There may also be more affordable and greener ways to heat your home than using a log burner or domestic fire.
