We still don’t have our election enforcer

Sign your name to tell the Senate we want a Federal Election Commission that’s committed to enforcing the law!

“We need our nation’s election watchdog back on the job — with commissioners who are committed to enforcing the law. While we want a functional FEC, confirming nominee Trey Trainor would have the opposite effect. Although his confirmation would restore a quorum to the commission, his record strongly suggests dysfunction would prevail. The Senate must only confirm nominees who are committed to upholding the law to ensure that the FEC can enforce federal campaign finance law.”

John,

This week marks 200 days since the Federal Election Commission (FEC) has effectively been shut down and not enforcing our nation’s election laws. This means it’s still unable to punish those who violate the law, craft new rules, issue legal guidance to candidates or political groups, or hold public meetings. And, as our country is in the middle of the presidential primary season, we don’t have the nation’s election watchdog on duty.

This is unacceptable. Add your name to demand a functional FEC.

Just last week, the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration held a confirmation hearing for President Trump’s FEC nominee, Trey Trainor. And, although this would mean the agency would have enough commissioners to conduct business, this is not good news.

Trainor’s previous record and his responses at his confirmation hearing suggest that he would not uphold the rule of law and would actually end up making things worse.

Tell the Senate to only confirm nominees to the FEC who will enforce our nation’s campaign finance laws.

Thanks for all you do,
