Incoming inclement weather

Snow [ [link removed] ]

Due to the incoming winter storm, Friday's waste collection will start early at 5 a.m. Please keep garbage and recycling cans off the street and secure them in a safe area since high winds are expected.

More than 2 inches of snow is forecasted, and we need your cooperation to NOT park on streets. This allows our Public Works crews plenty of room to salt and plow, as well as access for emergency vehicles. Don't shovel or blow snow into the streets. Be a good neighbor and shovel your sidewalks and areas around fire hydrants.?Get information on salting and snow removal: oswegoil.org/snow [ [link removed] ].

Check the weather forecast before you hit the roads and limit any unnecessary travel. Stay safe, Oswego!?

Falling temps = frozen pipes

frozen pipes

As temperatures plummet, follow these tips to avoid frozen water pipes this winter.?

* Turn on your faucet to allow a small drip, preferably from a faucet on an outside wall. Open cabinets beneath sinks to allow warm air to flow.?
* If your pipes freeze, never try to thaw a pipe with a torch or other open flame because it causes a fire hazard.
* If your water pipes burst, turn off the water at the main shutoff valve and call a plumber for assistance.
* If you're leaving town, ask a friend or neighbor to check your house daily to make sure it?s warm enough to prevent freezing.?
