John,
Did you know that wolves are protected under federal law?
Minnesota deer hunters and farmers are banding together to put pressure on
lawmakers to remove wolves from the federal endangered species list, with their
population numbers exploding and deer hunting dwindling at the same time.
The wolf population in Minnesota was recently estimated to be almost 2,700
wolves, which is nearly double the Endangered Species Act recovery target of
1,400 wolves for the region.
Pete Stauber has been a leader on this issue.
As an avid hunter, Pete understands that managing wildlife is all about
balance, and he thinks it's time we remove the wolves from the restrictions.
But as always, Pete wants to hear your thoughts directly. Do you agree it's
time to take wolves off the endangered species list?
