Martin’s new opponent is a former sheriff who eagerly visited Donald Trump in the White House and partnered with Trump on a controversial law enforcement initiative. He’s been a fixture on Fox News, and he vehemently opposed commonsense gun safety measures and body cameras, a critical and effective best practice for law enforcement.

Now, he’s accusing New Mexico Democrats of having “radical policies” — but Martin is proud to have worked alongside Democrats in the Land of Enchantment to improve public safety, get an archaic anti-abortion law off the books, and invest in our children’s education.

We need to take our new challenger’s candidacy seriously. He won twice in Bernalillo County, the largest county in New Mexico, and will no doubt have the full backing of his best friend Trump and his MAGA allies.

With Trump planning to come to New Mexico to stump for his campaign and state Republicans in the coming months, we need to prepare for any attacks that come our way.
