John--
The March 30, 2020 petition deadline is fast approaching and I wanted to share some important updates and developments with you.
- Regarding petitions for Federal, State , County and Municipal Office
Today, Governor Murphy signed Executive Order 105
- This order allows for all petitions for federal, state, county, municipal office to be submitted electronically through a form soon to available on the Secretary of State’s website
- It waives Notarization requirements for the petitions
- It does not appear to alter the number of signatures required for Federal, State County and Municipal office.
- Regarding Petitions for County Committee
- The Governor’s order also allows for county committee petitions to be submitted online without notarization.
- Lastly, and very importantly, there is the potential for County Committee elections be pushed off by a year, until June 2021, but I am waiting for further clarity on this.
I appreciate your understanding of these last minute changes
Thank you!
