Is There Energy Advisor Capacity in Your region to Support the BC Energy Step Code?
CHBA BC

CHBA BC has launched a new online training program for new Energy Advisor students.

Description:

An Energy Advisor is trained to provide builders, renovators and homeowners guidance and direction on ways one can improve and measure the energy efficiency of a home. There are many labelling programs available for residential construction. A CHBA BC Energy Advisor is licensed to deliver the EnerGuide Rating System for New Homes.

The EnerGuide label is often used in partnership with other labelling programs such as ENERGY STAR®, BUILT GREEN®; and the CHBA Net Zero Home Labelling Program. This Stage 1 workshop provides training on the use of the HOT2000 software which is used to model new house plans within the EnerGuide for New Houses, ENERGY STAR, and Net Zero certification programs. The course covers the responsibilities of a plan evaluator, who performs HOT2000 energy analysis of house plans, playing a key role in the quality assurance process for labelling EnerGuide, ENERGY STAR and Built Green® homes. Training is also provided on the blower door test equipment and procedures.

The course covers the responsibilities of an Energy Advisor including data collection, photo requirements and modelling requirements using the software, Hot2000, resulting in an EnerGuide Rating Label. The focus of the training will be on new construction only. Practical exercises completed during training provide all participants with direct exposure to tasks they can expect to complete on the job.

Cost: $2500 + tax

Course format:

Students are required to attend four (4) half-day online training sessions.
The next set of dates for Stage 1 training are: March 5 / March 12 / April 2 / April 9
9:00 am-12:00 pm for each session

Students will be required to complete weekly assignments including the submission of training files. The course will conclude with an online final exam. A pass mark of 80% is required.
