I'm honored to step back into the halls of Congress to represent Oregon's 1st District for the second session of the 118th Congress.
And I have a lot on my to-do list.
We have our work cut out for us, and here are some priorities as I head into our first week.
- Keeping the government open and funded as we rapidly approach the January 19th and February 2nd deadlines.
- Protecting reproductive freedom and funding community health centers to help tackle the fentanyl crisis and address physical and behavioral health needs.
- Building more affordable housing and infrastructure projects, which means more people with a home and more good-paying jobs in our state.
- Protecting and funding public education while preparing students for college, careers, apprenticeships, and the jobs of the future.
- Protecting democracy so every voter has their voice heard and their vote counted.
- Expanding access to high-quality child care at affordable rates while keeping wages competitive to help ease early childhood worker shortages.
- And fighting to protect Oregon's mountains, coastlines, and natural resources.
Unfortunately, the extremist Republican majority is more interested in causing chaos and gaining media attention than these important priorities, but I will still do my best to get things done for the people of Oregon. I hope you'll follow along.
Thank you for standing with me and let's get to work!
