Tuesday began the 2024 Florida Legislative Session and all 30 of our Ruth’s List Alumni are geared up and ready to advocate on behalf of their constituents. Unfortunately on day one, Republicans filed House Bill 1519, legislation that will essentially ban abortion completely. This legislation would eliminate ending a pregnancy, even if it’s caused by rape or incest, and will silence reproductive freedom in Florida entirely. Although over 900K Floridians signed the petition to place abortion on the ballot, we await the Florida Supreme Court’s hearing on February 7, deciding if the measure can be placed on the ballot.
