Dear John,

As millions follow directions from public health professionals and stay home from work and school, public transportation and Amtrak ridership are plummeting. Combined with increased costs for additional cleaning and with the economy quickly coming to a halt, transit is facing an economic apocalypse—unless Congress decides to make it a priority in their proposed economic stimulus.

We told you our effective advocacy would continue during this crisis, and now we need you.Tell your representative to save public transportation with emergency funding.
Congress is poised to give billions to airlines and cruise lines. The time is now for Congress to step up and protect and preserve our country’s basic, publicly owned transportation infrastructure that millions depend on even during this crisis to get to essential jobs or medical care.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Congress will move a stimulus package at “warp speed.” The time is short—please send a message now to your representative to include emergency funding for public transportation and Amtrak in any relief or stimulus package.

Thank you for speaking up. Stay safe and stay healthy.
