Dear Friend, I wanted to make sure you saw this important email
about contributing
to the mobilization of people from around the country to
Washington, D.C. this Saturday. All out to D.C. and the March for
Gaza!
Eugene Puryear ANSWER Coalition
Dear Friend,
As you all know, we have been
partnering with the American Muslim Task Force for Palestine for this
Saturday's national March on Washington for Gaza, and now we need your
help. The march will be massive; buses are confirmed from cities far
and wide, and it's all based on the unity of dozens of organizations.
We added new bus locations just today, and many ANSWER chapters are
now scrambling to reserve additional buses as they sell out of
tickets. The problem is that we
take a significant loss for every additional bus, and this puts us at
risk of running into a serious financial hole. I’m writing today to ask that you consider
making an urgently needed donation to help us cover costs so we can
have the largest possible mobilization.
If you already donated, I want to
thank you for your contribution. If either you or your family or
friends would like to donate
again, the value at this moment will be doubled because
of a matching grant.
To give you a sense of
things:
- Each of the 6 buses from Boston
costs $6,950. Even though we fully expect to sell every ticket (at
$70), we will lose thousands of dollars per bus. Buses from Albany, NY
and from Maine cost even more.
-
We've already spent $45,000 on buses
from New York City and cumulatively, we have
rented dozens of buses from many cities.
- We are offering scholarships and
subsidies so that students and low-income people can
participate.
We are grateful that we have just
received a $5,000 matching gift donation from an anonymous donor in
New York City to help cover the bus expenses. That means every dollar
we raise this week, up to $5,000, will be doubled. The donor wrote in,
"I'm proud to be donating to an organization with the proven
experience to consistently move huge numbers of people for anti-war
causes. We need everyone on board. Let's get to Washington D.C.!"
Our organization is fueled by teams
of volunteers who have been working night and day in chapters
nationwide to help mobilize as many people as possible for this march,
which is coming at a critical time. But we rely on financial support
from people who are committed to this work — please make a donation here. We’re asking
you to pitch in with whatever you can.
This Saturday’s message will send
an unmistakable and united message to the world: the people of the
United States, from all walks of life, demand that Gaza be allowed to
live. We will condemn the Israeli genocide and the Biden
administration’s policy that facilitates it. Thank you again for all
your hard work to get out the message of this movement. See you
Saturday!
In struggle,
Brian Becker Executive Director, ANSWER Coalition
