As the coronavirus tears through New York City, the impact on our daily lives, health, and our economy has been vast and painful and it is likely to get worse before it gets better.
Unfortunately, our most vulnerable neighbors are bearing the brunt of the suffering as every public system is tested to its limit.
With layoffs and closings coming fast, more and more people could face real economic trouble. I am working hard in both Washington and New York to make sure that the federal government does everything possible to support citizens’ health and economic security, but in the meantime, there is so much we can all do to support our local communities.
