Hello everyone —
This is Tony Montalto from Stand with Parkland.
It has been devastating to see the news from Iowa. On just the first day back to school from holiday break, Perry High School's students' lives have been turned upside down by a school shooting that’s claimed at least one young life and injured several others.
The National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC)’s Protecting America’s Schools report (2019) points out this as one of the high threat times for targeted violence in schools. This is why we need Congress to pass the Eagles Act — to continue research to prevent targeted school violence and train mental health professionals, law enforcement, and school officials to recognize the warning signs that troubled individuals might exhibit before they turn to violence.
Stand with Parkland's advocacy work with several Members of Congress has been responsible for multiple reintroductions of the Eagles Act in Congress, but our efforts will not stop until it is passed and signed into law.
To support our efforts to continue pushing the legislation forward in 2024, please consider making a donation to our work. We won’t give up until not a single other family has to go through the unimaginable pain that we have.
Thank you again,
Tony Montalto
President of Stand with Parkland
